This presentation looks at how the United States viewed Japan after World War II as communism spread in East Asia, and how the status of Japan in the eyes of the U.S. evolved. It also looks at the significance of the United States for Japan that emerged exhausted after losing a war and was desperate to regain its sovereignty.
